I document Japan from the perspective of a traveler. The words of people we meet on our travels are treasures that are deeply etched in our minds and remain in our memories without fading with the passage of time. By recording the memories I have gained on my travels in words, I can keep past encounters vividly in my mind.
When I have an encounter with someone with whom I feel a deep connection, I cherish my relationship with that person and avoid taking photographs. The reason for this is that I want to convey special moments and experiences through words and emotions, not through photographs. I also value the moments of mutual growth when we meet again, so I emphasize direct dialogue and interaction without taking pictures.
Our mission as travelers is to see things from a different perspective than the locals or tourists. Our travels are constantly evolving, filled with new encounters and discoveries. In our travels, we play a role in conveying and documenting the charms of Japan.

Have you ever experienced the historic moment of a bridge being built?
This photo book, "Sanriku Oshima: Bridging Hearts and Minds," is a record of the author's experience of the historic moment of a bridge being built, and how he followed the process of building the bridge. The postscript to the filming describes the author's experiences from the first encounter to the change of heart and the completion of the bridge. The book captures the daily life on the island before the bridge opened, the moments of changing life, and the deep interactions with the local people, from the perspective of more than a tourist and less than a local. We hope that this collection of photographs will inspire people to visit the island where the bridge was built.
